Sophia is a Direct-Entry Biomedical Engineering PhD student at the University of Toronto. Her research interests are immunoengineering, dna technology, and drug delivery.

Prior to joining the Chou Lab, she earned her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a specialization in pharmacoengineering and regenerative medicine. She completed projects studying microparticle formulations for vaccine adjuvants and autoimmune diseases with a focus on how microparticle properties influence immune responses under Dr. Kristy Ainslie in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She also worked at Epigenos Biosciences, Fujifilm Biotechnologies, and Beam Therapeutics.

Outside the lab, Sophia likes to hike, bake, and explore new places.
